I know it’s late but it’s still technically Wednesday and I’m kind of excited about this. A couple of weeks ago, I posted a poem here for Creative Wednesday. I’d never done that before, being kind of a closet poet and not very confident about my skill in that area. Your response was so wonderful and supportive that I thought, Why not? So I submitted a couple of pieces, and the wonderful people at Mineral Lit Mag accepted one of them. It’s called ‘Dryad’ and you can read it here.
I couldn’t have done it without all of you. You’re better than Chardonnay. But since you’re not at my house, I’m drinking the Chardonnay.

I wrote a poem about being a tree once. It was accepted a looong time ago and will be published at the end of the year. Sooo you’ll have to wait some but they love such weird pieces. They’re called The Stray Branch (print only).
Another generous one is The Indian Periodical (online).
Loved it. And great news. I’ll celebrate with you. Keep writing…

I hope, Suzanne, this gives you the confidence to publish more of your poetry (like “Ephemera”), which is as good, in its own way, as your anecdotal essays and YA fiction. Congrats!

You know, Ephemera was the first poem I’d shared with anyone aside from Ken and Kate since I was a teenager. Your response was so positive that it gave me the confidence to rekindle my love for poetry. Thank you for being such a good friend 😊

I meant every word I said; it’s the reason I haven’t forgotten it — what — a year later? I don’t pay lip service to fellow scribes; I aim instead offer honest, fair, and constructive feedback. I wanna see that piece published someday, if even on yourdangblog!
