Well, I haven’t won yet, but I found out early this week that my flash fiction story ‘Resurrection’ has been nominated for Spillwords Press Publication of the Year (Non-Poetic). It previously won Publication of the Month, thanks to all your support, so if you would like to vote for it again for Publication of the Year (you have until January 31st), here’s the link: https://spillwords.com/vote/
And if you haven’t read ‘Resurrection’ yet, but want to, click here. I hope you enjoy it!
*If you do vote for me and let me know, I’ll name a character in a future short story after you, although I can’t guarantee you’ll have a happy ending–a lot of my stories are pretty dark (rubs hands together and laughs maniacally).
*Also, I know it’s not Wednesday but I forgot to do this yesterday because I spent all day yesterday thinking it was Thursday. I’m not even sure what day today is.
I already did (that’s a great story), but please don’t name a character after me. I find it spooky.
Now fingers crossed.

Thanks! I normally name my characters based on something in the story–in this one, I called the girl Dorcas after a woman who it was said could bring people back from the dead. I love naming characters:-)

Well, it’s fun.

You got my vote. But you can only use my name if I am killed in the most horrific of ways.

Thank you! And I will definitely kill you in a very horrific way!

Thanks. And I should probably suffer.

Oh, you will…(rubs hands together and laughs maniacally as one does).

I did see that and did vote for you! However my name is not conducive to an adventure of any kind.

Haha, Ok, but thanks for the vote!

Thank you so much–which of your names would you like to be immortalized in a story?

Not necessary, Suzanne. I’ll leave it up to you. 🙂 I’m happy to support you and the awesome story.

You know, on Tuesday, January 26th, I was so proud of myself because I knew WHAT THE DATE WAS without even looking at a calendar! #lifeslittlevictories HA! Off to vote if I can figure it out.

Darn, I failed, so I wasn’t able to vote…

Ken had an issue too–he got locked out and had to go back in the next day. It’s a very finicky system!

Now I’m questioning what day of the week it is myself…

Ohhh, so exciting and well deserved, my girl! I LOVED this and am diving in now to vote!
And yes, happy ending, please…perhaps set in Paris….with my beautiful forever person at my side, and my precious puppy, of course. I know, doesn’t sound very suspenseful, but with the shit that I get myself into and your hilarity, you can conjure up something brilliant, I’m sure of it! 😉
Big hug to you, and you’ve already won in my mind, so congrats!!!

I wanted to let you know that I read the story (Great Story) the day you posted this. I must have got distracted and never got back to leave you a comment. I tied to vote but for some reason it wouldn’t let me. Do you have to be a member or something? I hope you win.
Your story reminds me of why my husband, who used to work in a funeral home, always tells me to make sure he is dead for at least 3 hours before they do an autopsy.

Aw thanks—I appreciate it. I didn’t win but at least I was nominated! My mom has always insisted on the same thing as your husband. It must be a common fear—the Victorians even had bells on their graves!

Drat. I showed up too late to vote, and you totally deserved to win. But I have a feeling there are many more wins in your future.
