It’s almost the end of Wednesday, so this came in just under the wire. I’m thrilled to have another flash fiction story in The Sirens Call eZine. ‘Tooth Fairy’ is a strange little piece about what we’re willing to overlook to keep the things we love. I hope you enjoy my weird story–I can’t link directly to it, but you can read ‘Tooth Fairy’ on page 72 here.
Now that was a tale that I could sink my teeth into. Oh, come on, you know someone was going to say it. Quite a delight. Congratulations!

I’m so happy you liked it! Having an old house myself, I’ve always wondered if there’s something creepy under the floorboards!

That would definitely creep me out, so I’m glad that here in the Southwest we don’t find many homes with basements and/ or floorboards, lol. We do have plenty old, creepy cemeteries though.

That was wonderfully creepy! I wonder what happened to her “boy”. Maybe they should pull up a few more floor boards!

Exactly! And was it really a squirrel in the attic?😉

Suzanne,
Ooh, if this is what you’re giving us now, I can’t wait to read what you give us for Halloween! This was skin shivery! Well done! Mona

Thank you, Mona! Now I’ll have to come up with something scary for Hallowe’en–I wonder what else our poor couple are going to discover?!

You know, you could do a series of stories regarding this couple and their adventures in renovating their house. ~ M

And now I’m kicking myself–metaphorically, although I might try it once I finish this comment because I could really use the exercise–because on Wednesday I gave a short presentation on flash fiction (also six word stories and other forms of short short fiction), which was a brief respite in an otherwise busy week, and this story would have been a perfect example to share.
Well, with any luck I’ll be doing it again and this will go right to the top of my example list.

Cree-peee! Love it! Second-best home improvement story I’ve ever read (after Ken’s gazebo, naturally)!

Thanks! I blogged once about some weird stuff we found under our floor but it wasn’t teeth!

Those kinds of experiences take root in our memory and then resurface in our fiction. I once explored an abandoned housing project that was infested with raccoons, which became a major set piece in Spex.

Hey, thanks! I can’t say that any authenticity to which you may’ve responded is a testament to my imagination, since it’s more fact than fiction!

I loved this. So you’ve got two novels out there already…have you considered a compendium of poems and short fiction for your next possible release? That was, of course, a thinly veiled request from a very big fan.

Actually…I’m halfway through the novella that might become part of a novella/short story collection! Just finished Chapter 10:-)
