On Writing Wombwell Rainbow Interviews: Suzanne Craig-Whytock

I don’t normally post anything mid-week but I was interviewed by Paul Brookes about my writing and he did such a lovely job that I was compelled to post it!

Wombwell Rainbow Interviews

I am honoured and privileged that the following writers local, national and international have agreed to be interviewed by me. I gave the writers two options: an emailed list of questions or a more fluid interview via messenger.

The usual ground is covered about motivation, daily routines and work ethic, but some surprises too. Some of these poets you may know, others may be new to you. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I do.

Suzanne Craig-Whytock

is a writer from Ontario, Canada. Her first two novels, Smile and The Dome are published by Bookland Press (www.booklandpress.com). Her short fiction has appeared in Slippage Lit and is upcoming in XRAY Literary Magazine. She also writes poetry, and funny/weird things on her website mydangblog (http://educationalmentorship.com).

  1. Congratulations, Suzune!! Great interview 🙂 It is a bit strange to read the more “serious” side of you, but I am glad to get to know “her” too! All the best with The Dome and The Seventh Devil!! xx

  2. Great interview, Suzanne!

Having read your work, I’m not surprised to learn what a diverse array of literary influences you draw from. As we once discussed on my blog, Canadian rocker Geddy Lee — from your hometown of Toronto! — once defined originality as having so many influences, you can no longer identify them in your work; they’ve all melded. And as your confidence rises in your craft, your personality steps in front of those influences to form your unique voice.

The point is: Read outside your genre! Don’t even have a genre — just have a worldview that’s uniquely yours.

  3. This is a real treat: a midweek post and a great interview. I’ve been remiss in picking up your latest book—it needs to be in the library—and funny enough you’re the second person to recommend David Mitchell this week. I’m only familiar with the comedian, who jokes that people sometimes tell him how much they like his books.
Also Lorna Crozier is another I need to pick up. Strange imaginations appeal to me too.

  4. Goodness, Suzanne, you’ve been holding out on us! Much enjoy getting to know you a bit better. Would love if you’d do a post for my site — am sure my readers would love to know as much as I would about your publishing experience. Cheers either way but if you’re so inclined, here’s link for flexible guidelines: https://happinessbetweentails.com/2018/01/29/got-1-to-3-great-photos-or-illustrations-an-article-300-words-or-less-that-youd-like-published-on-happiness-between-tails/
